What We Believe From before the foundation of the world I loved you, God says. I chose you, I choose you. I call you to be the unique person you are. I will hold you together from the inside in the face of every external pressure. Come. Enter my covenant community in Christ: giving honor to me, devotion to my Reign, care for creation, and love to all people. But we get distracted. We rebel against our Maker. We turn in on ourselves; turn our backs on others. We fail to live up to the divine image within us. How can I give you up? cries the God of the cross. Return. Return. How shall we thank you, Lord, for such undeserved grace? God says: Pay to your neighbor what you owe to me. And Jesus says, simply and profoundly: Follow me. |
